Jingchu culture, centered on Hubei Province, serves as a strategic fulcrum of civilization in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The Jingchu region is rich in archaeological discoveries, cultural relics, historical documents, classic poetry and literature, natural wonders, and cultural heritage – too numerous to mention in full. In modern history, some 700,000 people from Hubei sacrificed their lives as revolutionary martyrs, making tremendous contributions to China’s national independence and the Chinese revolution. Today, Hubei has taken systematic measures to protect and carry forward its historical and cultural heritage while also developing cultural tourism industry, writing its own splendid chapter in the story of Chinese civilization.
