An article by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the self-reform of the CPC was published in this year's sixth issue of Qiushi Journal.

The article points out that our party is the world's largest political party established under the guidance of Marxist theory on party building and in accordance with the principle of democratic centralism. The article notes that the CPC, as the ruling party of a big country with a very large population and long history, boasts huge advantages in accomplishing major tasks and creating great achievements, but at the same time, faces special challenges in governing the Party and the country.

The article specifies several issues that require further efforts to resolve, such as how to always stay true to the Party's original aspiration and founding mission, how to always unify thinking, will and action of the whole Party, how to always ensure the Party’s ability to govern and lead, how to keep a high morale in conducting initiatives, how to consistently find and address issues in the Party and how to maintain a political atmosphere of integrity within the Party.

It notes that tackling these challenges is bound to be an arduous task for the CPC on the new journey of the new era, and a must-do in its efforts to exercise full and rigorous self-governance under new circumstances.

The article stresses that the goal of exercising full and rigorous Party self-governance is not to constrain Party members to the extreme, making them overcautious and indecisive in mind and action or even fostering a lifeless atmosphere in which nothing can be accomplished. Instead, our goal is to create a positive and healthy political environment by exploring and improving effective measures for Party self-governance. In this way, motivation, initiative and creativity of Party members can be greatly inspired and achievements can be made on the new journey of the new era.
