Qiushi Journal Issue Preview: No.7, 2024
An article by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the CPC's commitment to placing the people above all else was published in this year's seventh issue of Qiushi Journal.
The article emphasizes that the people are the true heroes, for it is they who create history. The CPC comes from the people, has its roots among the people, and is dedicated to serving the people. It has in the people its foundations, its lifeblood, and its source of strength. In other words, the people represent the deepest foundation of our country and the greatest source of confidence for our Party. Hence, it is our immutable goal to satisfy the people's yearning for a better life.
This country is its people; the people are the country. As the CPC has led the people in fighting to establish and develop the People's Republic, it has really been fighting for their support. Standing on the people's side represents the fundamental political stance of the CPC, and it is what distinguishes a Marxist political party from other political parties, says the article, adding that everything the Party does is to realize, safeguard, and advance the fundamental interests of the greatest possible majority of the people.
Upholding the Party's fundamental purpose of wholeheartedly serving the people, we should implement the Party's mass line, respect the people's principal position and creativity, and ensure Party's ties with the people are closer than before. We will always stand together with our people and share a close affinity with them. By making their priorities our own and putting their wishes into action, we will continue working to realize their aspirations for a better life.
We will continue to develop whole-process people's democracy by improving the system of institutions through which the people run the country, thus stimulating the people's enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
The article emphasizes a people-centered development philosophy and calls for efforts to resolve the pressing difficulties and problems that concern the people most as well as more notable and substantive progress in promoting common prosperity for all, so as to ensure that the gains of modernization benefit all the people fairly.
