Usher in a New Era for China-CELAC Relations
Usher in a New Era for China-CELAC Relations*
December 3, 2021
During the seven years since 2014 when the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) was established, our two sides have stayed true to its founding mission of strengthening solidarity, improving policy coordination, and advancing South-South cooperation. We have turned the forum into a mutually beneficial platform and brought China-CELAC relations into a new era of equality, mutual benefit, innovation, and openness – one that will deliver real benefits to our peoples.
The world now finds itself in a new period of turbulence. Both China and CELAC are faced with a common challenge – promoting post-pandemic recovery and working for a better life for the people. We welcome an active CELAC participation in the Global Development Initiative. I hope China and CELAC will work together to overcome difficulties, create opportunities, and build a global community of shared development.
History tells us that peaceful development, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation are the right way forward for humanity. As developing countries, China and CELAC members are partners in all-round cooperation based on equality, mutual benefit, and shared development. Our shared dream of maintaining independence, pursuing development, and achieving revitalization has brought us together. Let us draw up a blueprint for growing China-CELAC relations, add momentum to our cooperation, and make a new contribution to the wellbeing of our peoples and the cause of human progress.
