At the start of 2021, the China Consumers Association set "protecting the safety of consumers to promote unimpeded consumption" as the theme for this year's consumer rights protection campaign.

The idea is to create a safer consumption environment and remove barriers impeding consumption.

According to a CCA survey in 100 cities in 2020, consumers are generally satisfied with the protection of their rights and interests.

Among production, distribution, circulation and consumption, the four elements of the economic system, consumption is both the end point and new starting point.

Therefore, unleashing potential consumption is of great significance to economic development.

According to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), China will strengthen the protection of consumers' rights and interests, improve consumption quality and the post-evaluation system, strengthen defective product recall mechanism, product injury monitoring and product quality guarantee system, and promote a diversified consumer rights protection and disputes settlement mechanism.

Strengthening the protection of consumers' rights and interests can help ease consumers' worries, boost consumption, accelerate domestic demand, and enhance economic development.

In recent years, market regulators have taken strict measures to address safety problems, laying a solid foundation for the development of the consumer market.

In January, the authorities issued an action plan that put emphasis on better protecting consumers' rights and interests through specific measures.

This demonstrates that China is giving priority to the protection of consumers' rights and interests and making greater efforts to improve the market environment.

As people's living standards and consumption levels improve, they seek better protection of their rights and interests. From offline consumption to online shopping, new consumption trends and patterns have emerged.

While enriching consumers' choices, these new patterns have also increased the need to improve the consumption environment and better safeguard consumers' rights and interests.

Strengthening the basic role of consumption in economic development requires the concerted efforts of society.

Consumption upgrading and better protection of consumers' rights and interests will inject new vitality into the market and help China's high-quality economic development and give people a better sense of fulfillment, happiness and security.
