In this combo photo, the right part taken on Feb. 9, 2021 shows Wei Chuanglai (2nd, R) making a hand heart gesture wih his wife and children at their home in Beijing, capital of China (Photo taken by Peng Ziyang), and the left part also taken on Feb. 9, 2021 shows Wei Chuanglai's parents making the same gestures at home in Xiaogan, central China's Hubei Province (Photo taken by Mao Feng). Wei Chuanglai, 35, is a ride-hailing driver in Beijing. This year, he chose not to go back to hometown in Hubei and stay in Beijing with his wife and children for this Spring Festival. He didn't stop working during the holiday with a hope to make a better life for his family. As a part of the preventative measures against COVID-19, China has encouraged people to stay locally for the Chinese New Year. Many Chinese chose not to go back to their hometowns for family gatherings, opting instead to stay where they were for the most important holiday of the year. Xinhua reporters helped those who didn't go back to their hometowns "reunite" with their families in pictures. [Xinhua]
